Hilliards House of Candy, the leading candy and chocolate maker in Greater Boston, likes to mosey around and search the news for interesting and compelling stories related to candy and sweets.
And we found a very interesting story, published yesterday, at the website of the New York Daily News about a chef and a edible gingerbread village he crafts and builds every year. This year is the 20th edition of John Lovitch’s holiday season confectionery masterpiece.
And it is a masterpiece and a colossus. As described in the story, what Lovitch calls “GingerBread Lane,” and which takes 10 months to build, is constructed from, “2200 pounds of icing, 400 pounds of candy and 400 pounds of gingerbread dough.”
GingerBread Lane is located at New York Hall of Science in the New York City borough of Queens.
