Today is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day, and whether you like to enjoy it on toast, in the middle of a PB&J sandwich or paired with chocolate, there isn’t a bad way to eat peanut butter. One of the most delicious and well loved foods on the market, Americans love this nutty spread so much that they spend about $800 million on it each year!
The History of Peanut Butter
While it’s probably tough to imagine your life without peanut butter, this creamy and delicious treat hasn’t actually been around for all that long. It was 1895 when the Kellogg brothers patented the first peanut butter making process, where they prepared this flavorful spread by steaming peanuts. Then, in 1922, a man by the name of Joseph L. Rosefield began churning peanut butter to make it smoother – like the creamy spread we enjoy today – and ten years later he was producing his creamy spread under the name “Skippy”.
Here at Hilliards, we believe that there is no better match for peanut butter than chocolate, which is why we offer an array of homemade peanut buttery desserts.
